Guwahati the “City of Eastern Lights” stand on the Southern bank of river Brahmaputra. It is capital city of Assam and gateway for the entire north-eastern states.
From Guwahati to Nameri we will cross Tezpur, “City f Love”. It is situated in te northern banks of river Brahmaputra. The ancient name of Tezpur was Sonitpur, the kingdom of legendary King Baan Raja. Tezpur holds in its heart many ancient historical events and witnessed many legends and mythological wars of ancient Assam. The occurrence of a famous war named “Hari-Hara” is related with the attainment of the present day Tezpur. The battle led to the bloodshed of sp many soldiers that entire place was stained with bllod and hence the name Tezpur came into occurrence. (“Tez” means blood and “Pur” mean place in Assamese language).
Nameri National Park is situated in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas and covers an area of about 200sq kms stretching on both banks of the Jia Bhoroli River. The parkis identified with its rich diversity of flora and fauna. It consists of Semi-evergreen vegetation, most deciduous forests and open grasslands along with 600 species of flora It is famous for Asian Elephants, Royal Bengal Tigers, Clouded Leopard, Leopard, Indian Bison, Gaur, Himalayan Black Bear, Capped Langur, Civet Cats, Indian Wild Dog etc. Winged Wood Duck, Great Pied Hornbill, Black Stork, Ibis Bill, Blue Bearded Bee eaters are some of the species of birds found here
Day 2: Nameri National Park
In the early morning, enjoy a full day guided trekking inside the dense forest of the Park along with an armed guard. Evening free for relaxation. Overnight stay in Jungle cottage.
Day 3: Nameri – Dirang
After breakfast we will proceed for Dirang. On the way full day birding and photography activities. Overnight stay at Dirang.
Dirang is famous for. Visit apple and kiwi farms. The place is also famous for tourist spots like Kalachakra Monastery, Sangti Valley, Hot Spring, Dirang Dzong.A quaint town nestled 4600 ft above sea level, Dirang is a precious secret tucked away in the endless valleys of Arunachal Pradesh. Its altitude makes it home to pleasant weather throughout the year and hence, it is a paradise for backpackers from across the world.
Day 4: Dirang and surrounding Birding
Full day Birding at Sangti Valley, Mandala. Evening free for relaxation. Overnight stay at Dirang.
Sangti, a lush and beautiful valley housing a large village with the same name. We will set up camp next to the Sangti river. Sangti is & kms from Dirang.
Day 5: Dirang – Sela Pass Birding
Full day birding activities and photography in and aaround Dirang and Sela Pass. Overnight stay at Dirang.
Sela Pass, situated in the Tawang region, is a high-altitude mountain pass that adds another jewel to the beauty of Arunachal Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of 2244 meters, strolling through the Sela Pass is as close as one can get to wandering through the clouds. Sela Pass, a high-altitude mountain pass located in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, is the world’s second-highest motorable road. This 4170-meter high pass connects Tawang with Assam and is one of the most adventurous roads for travelers. The Sela Pass is regarded sacred by the Buddhists who believe in over a hundred hidden lakes in the area.
Day 6: Dirang – Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary
After breakfast we will proceed towards Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary. Birding drive to Lama camp, Eaglesnest. Overnight stay at Fully serviced camps.
Located in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Eaglenest is Jewel of Indian birding within an area of 217 sq km. The altitude range of Eaglenest varies from 500 m to 3300 m. The range of elevation makes this place an extra ordinary place for birding. Eaglenest comprises a diverse habitat of great altitudinal range of semi-evergreen forest and tropical wet evergreen forest. In last few years, Eaglenest is rated as one of the best birding site in the world, with over 650 bird species in & surrounding forest of the sanctuary.
Few Important birds of Eaglenest are; Bugun liocichla, Ward's Trogon, Beautiful Nuthatch, Barwing, 7 species of Wren Babblers, 4 species of Shortwings, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Sikkim Wedge-billed Babbler, 3 species Trogopan's, many species of Laughing Thrush, Great/ Lesser Rufous-headed Parrotbill.
The birding in Eaglenest is not demanding. The unpaved road connects the whole sanctuary which makes it good excess to the entire altitudinal range. Eaglenest is a notified protected area with the surrounding population of Bugun and Sherdukpen tribe. For last one decade it has been a prime destination for bird watchers from all around the world. Eaglenest as a sanctuary got its main recognition after the discovery of new bird Bugun Liochicla in the year 2006.
Day 7: Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary
Early in the morning go for birding and photography. Full day Birding at Bompu, Sessni, Sunderview. Overnight stay at Jungle Camp.
Day 8: Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary – Guwahati
After breakfast we will proceed towards Guwahati. You will be transferred to Guwahati for your onward journey.
